Though the importance and impact of the issues raised by Jain was felt on the national scene, and in certain instances recognised, even internationally, the man behind it remains largely unknown. This was largely due to his low key approach and unassuming manner.
Jain fought a relentless crusade- through filing of PIL (Public Interest Litigation) and advocacy- for getting investors their due and creation of a level playing field, amongst all categories of investors. His unstinted and sustained efforts have resulted in recognition of small investors as an important stakeholder in the capital market. This has paved way for institutionalizing investors voice in various corporate and finance related forums and underlined the importance of responsible corporate governance. This is a pioneering effort with very few parallels in Independent India.
On request of the print media, Jain has been contributing to leading newspapers and magazines. Print and electronic media including CNBC, air from time to time special stories and his interviews/comments on topical issues.
Though not a lawyer or professional by qualification, Jain identified important issues concerning small investors and corporate governance, took it up with the concerned authorities and wherever necessary filed numerous PILs. All related tasks like undertaking research, preparing the representation or writ petition, making presentation in person, briefing the counsel, preparing rejoinder, interacting with media etc., were virtually done single handedly by him at his personal cost for years. He has truly served the society with tan-man-dhan.
